The box this came in was well made and could handle the abuse of the postal service. More than enough bubble wrap is around the glass pieces that I would think no one should end up having the glass vessels arrive broken. As a gift this should arrive safely, however this was for our own home. This will allow me to post updates and and modify ratings if necessary.I purchased these for VERY coarse Himalayan Salt & pink peppercorn berries. If these work well, I plan on purchasing another set in the next 60 days for very coarse salt and black peppercorn berries to be used by the stove as well. As you can probably tell by now, I love to cook and spices are a very important part of my life in cooking, though I am a merely a home cook and cosmetic formulator by trade.The disappointing aspect of this set was the air bubble in one of the glass vessels that is very hard to miss. Yes, I could have sent it back. It is NOT hand blown glass but in all honesty I was anxious to try them out.Prior to grinding any spices it is always recommended to gring rice first to get any type of residue or shards that may have been leftover during the manufacturing of any mills when there are metal parts. While these are ceramic parts inside, I still followed the same guidelines I have always used and the mills performed the cleaning tasks just fine.I added the salt and pink peppercorn berries to each vessel and did an initial adjustment to observe the capabilities of the grind differences. The vessels hold an impressive amount. Refilling constantly is NOT something I particularly enjoy. I like to fill about every 90 days, and since I cook a lot I think I can safely say I have room.Here's a pro tip here. Keep a few pieces of rice in your salt to prevent it from any clumping- especially if you keep these anywhere close to a stove. However, ALL spices should be stored in a cool & dark place to preserve their freshness as long as possible and prevent humidity from ruining them.While there were pretty good differences in grind, for the price I felt it performed on par and delivered to my expectations. I noticed a larger difference with the pink peppercorn berries though as there are times I just want to have a touch of additional color and flavor to top off certain dishes.The holder I highly doubt is stainless steel and documentation makes no mention of that. It is mentioned that the tops are stainless steel but as far as a grade of stainless my bet is it is a 200 grade which is the equivalent to that of which you would find in vessels that are in many buffets that hold fresh vegetables at the salad bar section. This is one of the lesser expensive stainless steel grades. It will still perform but longevity and durability if you abuse it just won't happen. One thing to keep in mind though is who really abuses mills? You grind with them, regularly clean them (if you keep a clean kitchen this should be normal after use), and acids from arious pasta or marinara sauces SHOULDN'T be an issue if you clean it up immediately.All in all I would give this an 8.5 out of 10 so far, knocking off 1.5 points for the lack of quality control on the blemish in the glass which anyone in packaging or quality control should have clearly spotted.If there is a problem I will update the review and if I end up with another set for black peppercorns & coarse kosher salt I will as well.For the price I'd definitely give these mills a try.Perfect salt and pepper shakers. Plus love the stand that comes with the shakers!!!Nice but a little bigger than I thought. Gave it to my sister for when she starts her family. I bought them initially for me bc I thought they’d be more dainty. Pretty though otherwise.This is the 3rd set I bought. The first 2 were great. This last set won't grind. It just turns after a month and nothing comes out.Supercute and an interesting centerpiece in our living room! Super easy to clean, when necessary. The adjustable knows are great for larger or smaller grinds!Easy to useLuke how tall they areI like the shape bigger than expected.
